18 Mexican wines captivated worldwide tasters and won several medals in the 24th edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles (CMB,) an international wine championship conducted from May 5 to May 7, in Valladolid, Spain.
Among the 9 thousand wines from Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, the U.S., and other producer countries, the Mexicans stood out for their precise technique and great sensory expression.
Casa Grande Chardonnay 2016 and Casa Madero Chardonnay 2016, both from Casa Madero; Casta Tinta Syrah 2014, from winery Casta de Vinos; Duetto 2011 and Solera Blanco, from Bodegas de Santo Tomás; and Zigzag 2014, from Hilo Negro, received gold medals.
Casa Grande Shiraz 2013, from Casa Madero; Cardón 2014, Casta Blanca 2016 and Casta Negra 2013, from Casta de Vinos; Cuna de Tierra 2014 and Cuna de Tierra Nebbiolo 2014, from Bodegas Vega Manchón; Cabernet Sauvignon Reserva Privada 2013, Nebbiolo Reserva Privada 2013, Petite Sirah 2015 and Sauvignon Blanc 2016, from the winery L.A. Cetto; Sauvignon Blanc Viña Kristel 2016, from Monte Xanic, and the three variety blend from 2013 of Syrah, Merlot and Tempranillo from Tierra Adentro, received silver medals.
“For a market like the Mexican, which is in process of maturing, it is important to have this international references so as to guide the buyer. A medal means that your wines are the best ones in the world, this reinforces the customer's reliance and turns into pride,” said Ramón Vélez, sales manager of the winery Vega Manchón.
The Mexican wines will receive their medals from the hands of Baudouin Havaux, President of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, during the award ceremony conducted on June 14, in Mexico City.
