Attack against Coptic Christians
Christians were targeted again in Egypt this Friday, where at least 26 persons died, including children, in an attack by armed and masked men against the bus which transported them to a Coptic monastery.
This onslaught, in the province of Minya, coincides with the offensive led months ago by an Egyptian branch of the jihadist group, the Islamic State (ISIS.) The extremist organization aims to multiply the aggressions against Christians, who represent around 10 percent of the more than 90 million Egyptians.
The Ministry of the Interior indicated that the attackers were on 3 pick-ups when they opened fire on the bus which was going to the monastery of Saint Samuel, more than 124 miles to the south of the capital, before getting away.
According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Jaled Megahed, the attack killed 26 persons and wounded 25 more. An employee of the Ministry remarked that many of the victims were children, informed a local television network.
The police placed checkpoints on the highway where the assailment took place, indicated Al Bedawi.
