In a joint press statement, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights' Mexico Office (UN-HR Mexico) and Mexico's National Commission for Human Rights (CNDH) said that the two organizations will launch a joint mission in Guerrero on December 6 and 7.
Ismael Eslava, First Investigator for the CNDH, and Jan Jarab, Mexico's representative of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, announced that they will participate in the mission.
As part of the mission, both Eslava and Jarab will meet with the Minister of the Interior for the state of Guerrero, Florencio Salazar Adame, and state prosecutor, Javier Ignacio Olea Peláez, to discuss advances made and challenges regarding human rights violations in Guerrero, one of the most violent states in Mexico.
Eslava and Jarab will also meet with civil society organizations from Guerrero, family members of missing persons from Chilpancingo, Iguala, Acapulco and Chilapa, and family members of the 43 missing students from Ayotzinapa.
A joint message will be released after the meetings have concluded on December 7 with the results of their findings.
