On Monday morning, the remains of five women were found inside a truck in downtown Juan Aldama, Zacatecas, together with casings from firearms used exclusively by the Mexican Armed Forces.
Marco Vargas Duarte, a spokesman for the state government's security department, confirmed that the incident occurred between 03:00 and 4:00 am, and that municipal authorities reported the finding and requested support by the Zacatecas State Prosecutor.
Police authorities report that the five women were found inside a GMC Equinox and have yet to be identified.
The spokesman also said that investigators were present at the scene of the crime, where they recovered the bodies for their subsequent autopsy.
