Arson reported at journalist's home in Los Cabos

A fire was reported at the home of a journalist early this morning in Los Cabos.

The incident occurred at around 3:00 am this morning in the Arcoiris neighborhood in Cabo San Lucas at the home of Julio Omar Gómez Sánchez, an independent reporter from the area.

The journalist and his family weren't at the home at the time of the incident. He has since filed an official complaint with the state's head prosecutor, as well as the special prosecutor for crimes against freedom of expression.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire, but a section of the home and an entire vehicle suffered major damages.

The journalist, who's a regular contributor for the agency 911 Noticias BCS, covers violent stories in the area, which have become increasingly common in recent months.
