Finnish cello rock-band, Apocalyptica, offered a concert in the National Auditorium, in Mexico City, as part of their Shadowmaker Tour yesterday.
The four cello-men and their drummer hit the stage and delivered and energetic two-hour concert where 1,200 fans enjoyed Mexican themes such as “El Rey”, written by iconic ranchero singer José Alfredo Jiménez, sung entirely in Spanish.
Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Pertu Kivilaakso, Mikko Siren and Franky Perez also played the Mexican National Anthem and thanked the audience for their support and enthusiasm: “Thank you Mexico, we love you and we promise to come back soon”.
Apocalyptica played emblematic Metallica themes such as: “Nothing else matters”, “I don’t care”, “Master of Puppets” and “Home” among others. With their interpretation of “One”, the Finnish cello-men elevated the audience’s cheer as they wore t-shirts from the Mexican Soccer Team.
