Thousands of U.S. citizens who live in Mexico along the U.S.-Mexico border have crossed into several states in the U.S. to vote in today's presidential elections.
The San Ysidro – Tijuana international border crossing is one of the busiest in the world where thousands of workers and students cross every day, many of who say they save a lot of money on rent and living expenses by living in Tijuana and working in Southern California.
Mónica Ibarra, a young U.S. citizen who lives in Tijuana said she woke up at 3 am in order to beat the massive lines at the border crossing today.
But she said that small sacrifice was worth it because, unlike past elections where she decided not to vote, she said this time she, as a true bi-national Mexican American, can't allow Donald Trump to win the elections.
“I have uncles, aunts and cousins who are in the U.S. illegally; they contribute to the U.S. economy, that is their home. Donald Trump can't possibly win.”
Just like Monica there will be thousands of U.S. citizens from Mexico who will vote in San Diego and polling stations across the border.
