One-week old baby girl, Sofía Victoria González Abarca, was found “alive and well”, as reported by chief of Dallas police department, Gordon Ramsay, after she had gone missing last Thursday in her home in Wichita, Kansas.
Her mother, 27-year-old Laura Orquídea Abarca Nogueda, was shot dead in her apartment last Thursday and was found by her partner and father of the child, Manuel González, after he came home from work. Mr. González realized the child was missing and reported it to the authorities, who coordinated a non-stop and extensive search with the FBI that resulted in the arrest of two people and the finding of baby Sofía in Dallas, Texas.
Former employer of Laura Abarca, Chuck Oullette, opened the website “Godfundme” to raise funds for the family of Laura for the burial expenses.
Oullette is the manager of Mexican restaurant “Abuelo’s”, where Laura and Manuel worked, and regarded Laura as “a charming and hard-working girl” who also happened to work at another restaurant.
It is believed that more suspects are at large and authorities are still working on this case as an “open investigation”.
