Kate del Castillo to visit Mexico in December

Mexican actress Kate del Castillo will return to Mexico in December to attend the Fénix Iberoamerican Film Awards.

In a statement, the film organizers confirmed the actress' attendance to the ceremony at Mexico City's Esperanza Iris theater on December 7.

Just a few days ago, Del Castillo said that she had been granted a writ of amparo and she hoped to visit Mexico soon.

Since authorities learned that she met with drug lord Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, Kate was under investigation. She allegedly arranged actor Sean Penn’s interview with "El Chapo" in October while the Sinaloa cartel leader was at large.

The Fénix awards is an independent annual film award ceremony to celebrate the films and industry professionals of Latin America, Spain and Portugal.
