Colombian born Alejandro Bedoya, who plays for the United States men's national soccer team, said he hopes spectators don't use the match between Mexico and the U.S. to chant anti-Trump slogans or other homophobic chants, which Mexicans are known for shouting at soccer matches.
“This is a sports match and what I'm saying applies to both sides. People should come to have fun. We hope nobody uses the event to protest anything or yell homophobic slurs,” he said at a press conference.
The U.S. hosts its southern neighbor tomorrow as the fifth round of the World Cup qualification kicks off.
