Mexican performer Gloria Trevi urged the Hispanic community in the U.S. to vote for a U.S. president that promotes unity and who is acquainted with the reality lived by the many and not only with that of the few, during her recent concert last Thursday in New York’s United Palace, which is part a series of forty-four shows in the U.S. that make up her tour “El Amor”.
“...I do not wish anyone harm and I do not hold a grudge against him (Trump), but I truly believe that this gentleman lacks the knowledge of hard work, of what it means to start from scratch.[…]”, she stated in an interview prior to her concert.
She added: “The UBER I took on my way here was operated by a Hindu-speaking driver, we speak Spanish and the security speaks English, this is the magic of the U.S., this diversity, so many peoples and mixture of races […] The Mexican consul (Diego Gómez Pickering) came to the concert and said: “These are not times to raise walls but to create bridges […] countries which stay behind walls sink within”.
Trevi emphasized that she is entitled to give her opinion on the matter as she provides employment for U.S. citizens and stressed “how much division is breathed” in the U.S. at the moment.
She also commented on her views of a having a woman for the U.S. Presidency: “[…] if people want to promote real change, well, what better way of doing so than with empowering a woman to become president.”
