Authorities launch manhunt for gunmen that killed 5 soldiers

The Federal Police officers and Special Armed Forces that successfully recaptured the infamous Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán this past January in Sinaloa have been assigned the task of capturing those responsible of killing five soldiers and wounding 10 others after ambushing a military convoy in Culiacán transporting a fellow cartel member in the early hours of September 30.

According to EL UNIVERSAL's official sources, the Federal Police's intelligence team is overseeing investigation efforts to identify and find the organized crime group, while the elite Mexican marine corps task force has been entrusted with capturing the assailants.

Both of these institutions are exhausting all available material and human resources and are working closely with the Federal Attorney's General Office to ensure that these crimes do not go unpunished.

Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto vowed to find and bring to justice those responsible for the attack that resulted in the death of six military personnel agents.

The Minister of National Defense, Salvador Ciengfuegos Zepeda, also expressed his outrage against these violent acts and warned that he will do everything possible to find those responsible.
