A search-and-rescue operation has been launched in Durango's capital to help victims of the heavy rainstorm that swept through the city last night, said the Interior Minister of Durango.
The operation is an effort between three government agencies, and include cleaning, sanitation and constant monitoring of nearby dams.
As a result of evacuations in high-risk areas, the Interior Minister urges citizens to only follow instructions from official government officials so as to not be taken advantage by any criminals.
“Two temporary shelters have been set up, where 87 people are currently staying, since most people have returned to their homes,” said the Interior Minister.
More rain is forecast for the area tonight so the shelters will remain open until further notice.
