The results of the necropsy practiced on the remains of Bantú the gorilla will be published, as promised by the mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Ángel Mancera.
In an interview, Mancera said that different institutions and agencies are involved in the investigations about the death of the only male gorilla in the country, and said that the results "will have to be known, without any doubt".
Regarding an improvement in the conditions of the zoos in Mexico City, he said that his government is working on their rehabilitation, with an investment of US$4.8 million.
"Right now there is work done in the cages and all the security equipment. They were already, some of them, in a worrying state. So, all that is being worked out now," Mancera said.
After the death of Bantú, and more recently of a female bison, Mancera also pointed out again that he is not considering closing the zoo of Chapultepec.
"I don't see it in the short-term. Maybe new designs, new plans, but that is the opinion of the majority," he said.
