The Office of the Attorney General of the state of Sonora reported the killing of Blanca Vianey Durán Brambila, widow of murdered Banda singer Valentín Elizalde.
The woman, in her 40s, was killed around 11:00 a.m. by a man who shot her twice in the head. She was declared dead in a local hospital and is survived by a girl she had with the singer.
Apparently the killer is on the lam.
On November 25, 2006, Elizalde was shot to death after leaving a concert in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. It is widely believed that he was killed due to a song believed to antagonize drug trafficking cartel Los Zetas. His alleged murderer, Raúl Hernández Barrón, was arrested on March 22, 2008, in Veracruz.
