The Prosecutor's Office Specialized in Electoral Crimes (FEPADE) of Mexico's Attorney General's Office (PGR) will supervise the upcoming elections in Oaxaca, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.
Santiago Nieto, head of the FEPADE, said that 1,295 complaints have been investigated this year, more than 250 of them in Veracruz.
He explained that 28% of these complaints are about citizens from other states or municipalities that are registered as local voters to favor candidates.
Nieto explained that in the case of Chiapas, it has been discovered that people from Central America are brought to participate in local elections.
Nieto added that complaints over illicit campaign financing have been filed in Tamaulipas and Veracruz.
