The Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CMEA) suspended the Phase I environmental contingency over the Valley of Mexico due to an improvement in weather conditions.
During the afternoon a high-pressure system over the Metropolitan area lost intensity "due to a shift toward the middle region of the central plateau, a situation that has favored a greater entry of moisture toward the center of the territory," expressed the report.
The CMEA mentioned that this situation allowed the dispersion of pollutants so that the concentration of ozone did not exceed 150 points in the IMECA air quality index, the maximum limit before imposing a contingency.
The Atmospheric Monitoring System (Simat) reported up to 131 points in the metropolitan district of Alvaro Obregón, meaning that while the air quality is poor, there is no need for a contingency.
