Businessman known as #LordRollsRoyce wanted for fraud, murder

One week after bodyguards of businessman Emir Garduño Montalvo attacked a Federal Police agent in Toluca, the Attorney General's Office of the State of Mexico (PGJEM) said that the businessman is wanted for fraud and murder.

The video of the aggression, circulating on social networks, earned him the nickname of #LordRollsRoyce.

Through the construction firms SARO Infraestructura S.A. de C.V. and Farsay SA de C.V., Garduño committed various irregularities, mainly in Michoacán. In March 2014 entrepreneurs filed a complaint against him because he owes them 14.5 million pesos for various works in the state.

Yesterday Carlos Loret said in his column that Garduño had the support of Alfredo Castillo, then commissioner for Security and Development of Michoacán, for the construction of four vehicular bridges.

Loret said that the company, that has no machinery or employees, outsourced services from other companies to carry out the works, and then forced them to contact federal authorities to receive their payment. The entrepreneurs claim that they were threatened by Garduño and federal officials.

On Tuesday members of the State Commission for Citizen Security (CESC) and the municipal police of the PGJEM raided Garduño's house in San Marino to obtain information about his businesses, the origin of his fortune and the luxury vehicles he owns, among them a black Charger, two Porsche, two Caiman, two Ferrari, one Rolls Royce, one Mini Cooper, one BMW and one Mercedes-Benz. Many of these cars do not have license plates.

He is also being investigated for the murder of Armando Medina Espinoza and for intimidating customers at a bar in the State of Mexico.

The PGJEM says that Garduño could be hiding in Michoacán, Guadalajara or Torreón.
