Formal prison for alleged pedophile father in Mexico

Alleged pedophile Juan Vicente Hernández León has formally been sent to prison in order to secure him while his process continues, according to the authorities.

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice of Tabasco, Judge Jorge Javier Priego Solis, ruled that the suspect will face his trial while imprisoned. The man was recorded while supposedly touching his daughter, who's around four-years-old, in an inappropriate way during lunch in a restaurant in the city of Villahermosa.

The recording caused a strong reaction on social networks.

The girl remains under custody of the Family Development Institute of Tabasco, but her grandfather, identified as Daniel Algomeda Cortés, has requested her custody, according to local newspaper Tabasco Hoy.

Algomeda Cortés said to the daily that the authorities have denied the custody to the mother of the girl, Silvia Algomeda, going as far as threaten her charges of being an accomplice and trying to conceal her husband if the insists.

"The girl is suffering inside. They don't even allow her mother to see her," he said.

"I came to request the tutelage of my granddaughter because I am her grandfather and I think I have the right," said Daniel Algomeda, who expressed that the has the needed economic resources and moral standing in order to care for the child and return her to her family environment.
