For actor Ben Affleck, the genre of superheroes is like any other and ruled out that it represents a type of cultural genocide, as stated by Mexican director Alejandro González Iñárritu.
The actor, who is in Mexico promoting "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," also pointed out that the director of "Amores Perros" and "Birdman" is his friend.
Superhero movies represent "a film genre like western, like science fiction, like wrestler movies ... Superheroes seem to have a resonance today, perhaps because it is a time of a lot of fear and we feel vulnerable. The world is in chaos," he said.
"Alejandro is a brilliant filmmaker. 'El Chivo,' (Emmanuel Lubezki, photographer) is also my friend. Alejandro sometimes exaggerates a little. I would not call it a cultural genocide," Affleck expressed.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be featured in Mexican cinemas starting Thursday, and it presents the first meeting between the titular characters after millionaire Bruce Wayne fears that Superman may represent a threat.
Director Zack Snyder and actors Gal Gadot, who plays Wonder Woman, and Henry Cavill, Superman, were also present at a press conference in Mexico City.
The movie will be premiered at the National Auditorium of Mexico City.
