Federal police agents arrested Guadalupe Fernández Valencia, also known as "La Patrona," alleged financial operator of Mexican drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán Loera.
Guadalupe Fernández Valencia was charged in the U.S. with drug trafficking and money laundering, and identified as Sinaloa Cartel lieutenant for "El Chapo" Guzmán’s son, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar.
"La Patrona", who is originally from Michoacán, moved both drugs and money for the Sinaloa Cartel.
She is also the sister of Sinaloa Cartel drug trafficker and "El Chapo" Guzmán associate, Manuel Fernández Valencia, who is currently in U.S. federal custody.
Guadalupe Fernández Valencia will be transferred to a federal prison until her legal status is determined.
