Actor and designer Waris Ahluwalia denounced today that Aeromexico prevented him from boarding a flight from Mexico City to New York, because he refused to remove his turban.
On his Instagram account, Ahluwalia indicated that the airline prevented him from boarding the flight at 7:15 in the morning since he refused to remove his turban in public, which the Sikh religious actor said would be the same as asking someone else to strip naked in front of people.
The actor and designer also published a photo with his boarding pass, after the airline decided to keep him from boarding the plane.
Aeromexico said that, prior to boarding the flight, all passengers must be checked under strict adherence to the security protocols currently in place in the United States.
In an interview given to the Daily News, Ahluwalia said that he submitted to a check of his person and belongings, which were analyzed in repeated occasions in order to find traces of explosive substances.
Ahluwalia also stated that he would have removed his turban in closed quarters, but that the airline personnel told him to book a flight with another company instead.
