The head of the firefighter squad of Mexico City, Raúl Esquivel, reported that the fire at a factory in the municipality of Tenayuca, in the State of Mexico, is under control.
On his Twitter account, Esquivel reported that the fire brigade supported "our colleagues from the State of Mexico" in putting out the fire.
"Thirty firefighters from the City of Mexico with two tanker bombs, eight water tanks and two vans are back to our stations," expressed Esquivel.
The fire began at 9:45 a.m. and was put under control just before 2:00 p.m. with the aid of firefighters from Atizapan, Cuautitlán, Tlalnepantla, and the City of Mexico, with more than 1,500 people evacuated from the area, among them a number of schoolchildren.
There were no reports of injuries and the Red Cross is ready to provide medical attention in case it's needed.
