Stephens wins the Mexican Open

American Sloane Stephens has been compared with the Williams sisters and one of the main reasons is her physical resistance.

She took more than three hours to defeat Slovak Dominica Cibulkova by 6-4, 4-6 and 7-6 (5) in order to win the Mexican Open, in Acapulco.

Stephens is the first American who crowns herself in the Mexican tournament since Venus Williams did it in 2009 and 2010.

Cibulkova was looking for her first championship since he was crowned in Acapulco in 2014.
