A court filing in a business lawsuit involving Donald Trump includes emails citing some Trump executives and family worrying that harsh comments on Mexican immigrants could damage his business brand with Latinos.
The filing in District of Columbia Superior Court asks a judge to throw out Trump's lawsuit against restaurateur José Andrés. Andrés was opening a Spanish restaurant in Trump's new hotel being built in Washington.
Trump in June said Mexico was using the U.S. as a "dumping ground" for drug dealers and rapists. Andrés said that made it impossible to run the restaurant, whose clients would include Hispanics.
A senior Trump executive emailed to say it was not surprising to hear that Trump's remarks could interfere. Donald Trump Jr. wrote, "Yeah, I was waiting for that one."
