Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto expressed that the authorities are working in order to ensure that Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán is extradited to the United States "as soon as possible".
During his participation in the World Economic Forum, Peña Nieto also acknowledged the impact that the last escape of the criminal leader had in his government.
He said that the Office of the Attorney General (PGR) will follow the due process against Guzmán Loera for his crimes.
"Clearly, this is a process which involves the Judiciary in our country, but the order for the PGR is to work and speed up its work to obtain the extradition of this very dangerous delinquent as soon as possible," he said.
"Most importantly, his recapture was obtained. The most wanted in Mexico, one of the most wanted in the world, was rearrested thanks to an effort of intelligence and the constant work of the public security agencies in our country," Peña Nieto pointed out.
