Six middle and high school students from Guanajuato traveled to China to participate in the 2015 World Educational Robot Contest.
Ramón Alexandro Castañeda Cerdán, Diego García Cerdas, Gerardo Vilchis Soto, Luis Arteaga Valenzuela, Cassandra Anahí Solís and Rubí Jasaret Durán represent Mexico in the contest held at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
The students must design, build and run their robot to complete the assigned tasks.
"I didn't expect to compete in an area that fascinates me. This experience has greatly impacted our lives," said Ramón Alexandro Castañeda Cerdán.
Ramón also said the team will make every effort to represent with honor all Mexicans.
"Perseverance, teamwork and creativity will characterize Mexico in the competition," he added.
The students traveled to China with the support of the Ministry of Education of Guanajuato (SEG), Educafin, and the company Abilix de Mexico.
The World Educational Robot Contest (WER) was founded and organized by Federation of World Educational Robot. WER is an international robot contest for teenagers from 6 to 18. Annually, more than 300,000 participants from 20 countries gather at WER contests.
