From an editing room in Los Angeles, Alejandro González Iñárritu took part in a panel of Produced By: NY and talked about his new movie "The Revenant".
"Now I know how Matt Damon feels filming 'The Martian'", the Mexican filmmaker joked.
On Saturday Iñárritu participated in a masterclass of producers broadcast live from the Time Warner Center in New York.
"There has not been a day in 'The Revenant' that has not been difficult or challenging. This is the most ambitious project of my life," the filmmaker explained, referring to the extreme cold of the place where the movie is being filmed, the resignation of the production staff and the fact that the movie surpassed its budget projections.
“As a filmmaker, sometimes you are a God, and sometimes a creature. In a way you have to be humble to hear what happens and see the transformation, even if it costs a little more. I am not investing in visual effects, but in emotional effects, and I think the actors understand the emotions better when (the story) is chronological," Iñárritu said.
Days ago Leonardo DiCaprio revealed that in "The Revenant" he has done things that he had never done before, like eating bison liver or sleeping among animal carcasses.
“The Revenant” tells the story of Hugh Glass, played by DiCaprio, a hunter who seeks revenge after being abandoned in a forest after a bear attack.
