Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto reported the lifting of the preventive alert deployed in the states of Jalisco, Colima, and Nayarit due to the passage of hurricane Patricia.
Peña Nieto expressed that Patricia is leaving Mexican territory and that the federal government will work with the state and municipal authorities in the evaluation of the damage caused by the storm.
"The preventive alert that was given for the states of Jalisco, Colima, Nayarit, has been lifted," expressed the President.
Peña Nieto expressed that while Patricia's impact was devastating its effects were relatively minor in contrast to what was expected.
The President also praised the citizens of Nayarit, Jalisco and Colima for leaving their communities in risk areas and added that the experts will have to explain the reasons why the damage was lower than expected.
As for damaged homes, he expressed that between 3,000 and 3,500 were affected, while some 3,500 hectares in agricultural areas were also damaged.
