Alberto Hernández Unzón managing director of meteorology and climatology of the National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported that hurricane Patricia is getting stronger and has made landfall.
He mentioned that during its fourth mission, the hurricane hunter plane detected maximum strength winds of some 220 miles per hour, which represents "a further escalation" in the storm's power.
"In the infrared satellite image you will see that at the moment, 2:00 in the afternoon, the front wall, in the northeast quadrant, in already coming to earth, and in three more hours so will the eye," he said in an interview with Radio Formula.
Hernández Unzón expressed that he would call Patricia a Category Five plus hurricane because it is the most dangerous ever in recorded history.
He said that the "wall", the outer reaches of the storm, are already beginning to affect the states of Colima and Jalisco.
The climatologist added that sea levels will rise between three to seven feet and the waves could reach forty feet.
