In the face of the arrival of hurricane Patricia to the coasts of the states of Jalisco and Colima, exceeding category five on the Saffir-Simpson scale, Google has activated a public warning system and a crisis map following the course of the storm.

Public Alerts is designed to provide relevant and timely information on the emergency notifications.

An alert can be displayed in computers or mobile devices when users search for information about the storm on the Google search engine or on Google Maps.

The same is available on Android and IOS, which will deploy a card with information on alerts, as well as evacuation instructions in the affected areas and for the risk areas only.

The crisis map presents relevant information of the hurricane and allows third parties to aggregate information layers, including the location of shelters and hospitals, evacuation routes, flood zones, failures in the electrical supply and much more.
