Mexico's Attorney General's Office obtained an arrest warrant for extradition against drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, to be prosecuted on charges of organized crime, crimes against health, money laundering, homicide and possession of firearms, pursuant to the request made by the Federal District Court for the Western District of Texas.
This is the second arrest warrant for extradition issued by a judge in less than two months against the leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. The previous one was issued on July 29, after the request made by the Federal District Court for the Southern District of California on charges of conspiracy to import and possess cocaine with intent to distribute it.
The U.S. has offered a US$5 million reward for any information leading to the Mexican drug lord’s capture.
