The Department of Civil Protection of Guerrero reported that 11 members of the state police were wounded when, in coordination with the Federal Police, kept supposed teachers in training from blocking the road from Tixtla to Chilpancingo.
According to the report, the 11 offices, including three women, were taken to a hospital in Chilpancingo for medical care.
The incident happened around 8:05 a.m., when people identified as teachers in training blocked the road with a cargo truck and set it on fire in Tixtla.
Subsequently, a group of parents approached the police for dialog and to ask them to allow them access to Chilpancingo.
However, the students began to throw stones and assaulting the officers, leaving eight injured and taking two officers, two of them females, who were also beaten.
Fire trucks and ambulances arrived at the area, where the burned husk of the truck was still ablaze.
All the officers present skull and brain trauma, knife wounds and blows in the ankles, legs, and thighs.
