In a public presentation in Havana, Pope Francis told young Cubans that "the world is destroyed by enmity and the largest enmity is war, and today we see that the world is destroyed by war because they are unable to negotiate".
In his last planned activity for Sunday, the Pontiff called for the prevention of wars and an end to killing.
"When there is division, there is death. There is death in the soul because we kill the ability to unite," expressed Francis, asking the youngsters to promote social friendship.
During the meeting in the Cultural Center Padre Félix Varela, the man formerly known as Jorge Mario Bergoglio called the youngsters to retain the capacity to dream. "Don't fold yourself in, open yourself and dream, dream, because the world can be made different with you."
The leader of the Catholic Church also spoke about the "culture of discarding" which affects youth because there are no work opportunities left.
"What's left for a jobless young man? … Addiction or suicide or to go looking for armies of destruction to create wars," he said.
"This culture of discarding is making us ill, it takes hope away from us," he expressed.
The Pope also insisted in looking to the future and build social friendship, in order to preserve hope and prevent youngsters from falling into sadness and defeat, just filled with regret and looking to evade life.
