Egyptian human rights lawyers said that they are willing to take their nation's army to the courts for the attack perpetrated "by mistake" against Mexican visitors and four citizens of Egypt, causing the death of eight tourists.
Human rights lawyer Amr Imam, a relative of one of the Egyptians who perished in the attack, expressed that there will be a "legal action against the Armed Forces to defend the rights of the victims".
"If the Egyptian courts do not meet the demands of the representatives of the victims, we will internationalize the case," Imam warned.
Meanwhile, Gamal Eid, president of the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI), told EFE that the organization is willing to denounce the army if the relatives of the victims request it.
"If any of the relatives files a complaint we are going to support it. It is the least we can do," he said.
However, Eid recognized that this initiative will be very complicated, due to various obstacles.
"This type of event occur in closed military areas, where we cannot have access (to investigate), and in addition, the State hates us human rights organizations and is not willing to work with us," he said.
The Egyptian Government continues to defend its version of the group was in a restricted access area.
However, Gamal Eid considers these as mere justifications and accused the "current political system" of following the same "same methodology as Hosni Mubarak (president deposed in 2011) and use only the 'stick' for security, without taking any legal action".
