Miguel Herrera, former coach of the Mexico's national soccer team, spoke for the first time about the incident with Christian Martinoli on July 27 at the Philadelphia airport.
Herrera said he didn't punch the TV Azteca sports commentator, it was just a "slap" before boarding the plane back to Mexico City after winning the Gold Cup in the United States.
"It was just a slap. And yes I was pretty upset," Herrera said in an interview with Fox Sports.
Herrera also said his daughter has nothing to do with the mistake that he made. His daughter attacked Luis García due to a "bad reaction, because she wanted to defend her father."
"Michel did not start anything, it was my fault," Herrera said.
Finally, he said if he runs into Martinoli again "nothing will happen, absolutely nothing."
