The governments of Mexico and the United States agreed to strengthen mechanisms to fight the trafficking of firearms and explosives by transnational criminal organizations.
The Attorney General of Mexico, Arely Gómez González and the Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), Thomas Brandon, also agreed to strengthen actions for tracing the recovered firearms.
Arely Gómez received Thomas Brandon at the headquarters of the PGR, he was accompanied by James McDermond, assistant director; Robyn Thiemann, chief of staff, and Keith J. Heinzerling, representative of the ATF in Mexico.
In a statement, the Mexican agency said that this meeting confirms the cooperation ties between the Attorney General's Office and the United States Department of Justice.
