The governor of Veracruz, Javier Duarte de Ochoa, gave his statement about the multiple murder in the Narvarte neighbourhood in Mexico City.
In a statement, he reported that he was asked by the Mayor of Mexico City to declare on the case and that he answered all the questions raised by the visiting staff of the city's attorney.
"I have never believed in the protection for politicians, so in a novelty way for the political and legal history of Mexico, staff of the Office of Mexico City was present in this jurisdiction and sought the information that I could provide.
"In that statement I answered all their questions and made it clear that I completely disavowed any responsibility for the events that took place on July 31 in Mexico City".
Among those killed in Narvarte is Rubén Espinosa, a photojournalist who said that he left Veracruz under threats.
