The leader and founder of the self-defense forces in Michoacán, José Manuel Mireles will continue in jail after receiving a new imprisonment order on charges of possession of a firearm for the exclusive use of the Army.
At a press conference. his lawyers Talia Vázquez Alatorre and Salvador Molina reported that the Court based in the city of Morelia issued a new judgment against Mireles.
Vázquez Alatorre said the Attorney General's Office (PGR) only dropped charges for crimes against public health and organized crime due to lack of evidence.
José Manuel Mireles Valverde is imprisoned in a maximum security prison in Hermosillo, Sonora, after being arrested on June 27 in the community of La Mira, Lázaro Cárdenas, Michoacán on charges of possession of a firearm for the exclusive use of the Army, crimes against public health and organized crime.
200 self-defense members were arrested along with Mireles, they are imprisoned in Tépic, Nayarit.
