An operator was injured last night when she fell from one of the cabins of the funicular railway that carries tourists to the monument of El Pipila, to a height of 30 to 45 feet.
The cab broke from its traction cable falling without control and crashing on the departure platform, in the back of the Juárez Theater.
A strong impact was heard at 9:00 p.m. in the service station, which was immediately evacuated and cordoned off by security staff, Civil Protection and Municipal Traffic officers.
The operator presented various injuries and was transferred to a hospital, where her condition was reported as stable.
So far, neither the municipal authorities nor the operator of the funicular had yielded an official report on the causes of the incident.
