Yellow alert in Guerrero for 'Carlos'

Tropical storm "Carlos" is currently on the Pacific ocean some 164 miles south-southwest of Acapulco, moving slowly to the northwest, and the state of Guerrero is currently under a yellow alert.

According to a 4:30 a.m. this morning, the National Center for Disaster Prevention explained that the storm remains relatively stationary, moving some 2.4 miles per hour.

A yellow alert for Guerrero means that heavy rains, with precipitations from three to six inches, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds, are expected in the east and the Costa Chica area, as well as the coastline between Zihuatanejo and Acapulco.

There is also a Green alert, representing the lowest risk situation, for Colima, Michoacán and the rest of Guerrero, as well as the south of Jalisco.

"Carlos" is expected to generate rains in Oaxaca, Chiapas and Veraruz, as well as lower-intensity precipitations in Michoacán, Tabasco, Puebla, Morelos and the State of Mexico.

The waves on the coast of Guerrero could reach more than nine feet high, and reach up to three meters high, just like it is expected in Chiapas and Oaxaca.
