Solar halo observed in Mexico City and State of Mexico

A solar halo surprised this evening to citizens of Mexico City and the State of Mexico.

The atmospheric phenomenon went viral on social networks.

Mayor of Mexico City Miguel Ángel Mancera posted a picture on his Twitter account.

He wrote "#HaloSolar an interesting atmospheric phenomenon is observed at this time in #CDMX."

A halo, also known as a nimbus, icebow or gloriole, is an optical and atmospheric phenomenon produced by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere, resulting in a wide variety of colored or white rings, arcs and spots in the sky.
